Conversation 1
Choice: Have you seen Dada's metal box?
That box? Oh, he cherishes it like nothing else. You mean it's lost?
Choice: He's been really upset — cried his heart out when he came to me.
Oh dear, I really can't thank you enough, my child. Everyone's got their own work to do, and besides Kasia, he's got no one his age here.
The time he spends with you must be a huge comfort to him.
Choice: He thinks he's a bad kid, that someone is punishing him.
Bad kid, huh... there's a lot of heavy stuff packed in that little heart.
When I first met him, he was sneaking around the back of the lab, eating canned food, covered in dirt and blood. His coat was in shreds.
The moment he saw me, he dropped the can and bolted a few meters, then stopped to peek back, like a scared rabbit.
You know, it breaks my heart seeing grown-ups like you travel this far on your own will... but a twelve-year-old kid escaping from Vulture Citadel? The world's gone way too wrong.
Choice: So, is that why you took him in?
If I had said "I'll take you in", he'd probably refuse. But instead, I said "you owe me a debt", and that scared him straight. Those canned goods didn't exactly come with a receipt, you know?
Choice: So you convinced him to stay?
Ahaha, I just told him those cans were crazy expensive, and he'd have to take care of my plants for a long time to pay it off.
aside: (Alchemy gives you a sly little wink.)
Kids like him — the ones brave enough to come back and apologize after getting caught — to them, responsibility is both a weapon and a chain.
Once he's strong enough to protect himself, if he wants to go back or travel farther, I won't stop him.
But until then, I just want him to grow up in a place that's at least a little safe.
Oh, pardon me, my child, I'm rambling again.
That metal box, right? I'll keep an eye out. You should check with the others too.

Choice: Have you seen Dada's metal box?
Metal box? That brat's marbles are all stuffed in there, right?
Choice: Wait, did you take it???
Oh please, do I look capable for something like that?
Choice: How do you know???
Just a guess... looks like I was wrong. Kid's already busted enough of my windows.
I know he didn't mean it. He always came to apologize.
Kids growing up in times like these...
If they can find even a bit of fun, that's a blessing in itself. I can afford a few windows.
Making a kid cry isn't something to brag about... I'll help look later too.
